What is an Endowment?
An endowment is an agreement between the local church or non-profit organization which establishes a fund to be held in trust for a specified use.  Many local Churches write Endowment Fund Agreements with The Stewardship Foundation for scholarships, building and maintenance, and music programs (to name just a few).

What do you mean by “Socially-responsible" Investment Management?
The United Methodist Church has an actual document entitled “The Social Principles of the United Methodist Church” and it is up-dated every four years along with our “Book of Discipline.”  These Social Principles strictly prohibit us from investing in companies that deal with alcohol, tobacco, pornography, etc.

What does “Stewardship” mean?
It stems from an old Greek word meaning “to manage.”  Therefore, a “Steward” is one who manages things belonging to someone else.  We are all Stewards of all that God has given.

What is a Charitable Gift Annuity?
This is an agreement between an individual (or up to three individuals) and The Stewardship Foundation by which the annuitant makes a charitable gift to a designated charitable beneficiary.  During their lifetime, the annuitant will receive a guaranteed regular payment.  If a couple makes the charitable gift, the guaranteed regular payment passes to the survivor until their death.  When the last annuitant dies, the remainder in the Charitable Gift Annuity is given to the designated charitable beneficiary.
