Offertory Prayers - September 2011 PDF Print E-mail

GBOD continues to deliver the full text of each month's offertory prayers via email. You may also find the Offertory Prayers online at www.GBOD.org

September 4, 2011 -- Twelfth Sunday after Pentecost

Generous and loving God, we pray that these gifts may be part of our witness, our testimony to our love for you and the abundance with which we have been blessed. With your blessings we know that this testimony can reach the poor, the hungry, and the hurting, proclaiming your good name, ministering to those in need. Amen. (Matthew 18:15-20)

September 11, 2011 -- Thirteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Heavenly Father, we know that too often we focus on what is owed us rather than the great abundance that has been provided through you. With your help, we can become generous and grace-filled, using our resources as tools for ministry rather than for our own desires. Help our hearts understand how earthly wealth can be used for Kindgom work. Amen. (Matthew 18:21-35)

September 18, 2011 -- Fourteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Father, as we toil in the fields, we, too, grumble as others seem to have more than they have earned. Help us understand the tremendous generosity that we have enjoyed and guide us in learning how we can share that generosity in a hurting world. Amen. (Matthew 20:1-16)

September 25, 2011 -- Fifteenth Sunday after Pentecost

Father, we, too, have said we want to follow your teachings and show your love to the world, but we still resist. Help our hearts and our bodies follow our words, not just saying we will be your body, but by doing your work and returning part of your abundance so that your work may truly be done. Amen. (Matthew 21:23-32)
