Gift Annuities A charitable gift annuity is an agreement between you and The Stewardship Foundation in which you transfer cash or securities in return for guaranteed life-time payments. These payments may be made to you or any other one or two designated beneficiaries. It's an excellent opportunity to benefit others through your favorite out-reach ministry. A gift annuity serves two purposes: It benefits you with an assured life income and it helps others. Cash, mutual funds, stocks or bonds may be used to purchase a gift annuity with The Stewardship Foundation. When you enter into the agreement, your gift is invested and you receive a percentage of this investment in the form of fixed, guaranteed payments. The amount of these payments is established at the time you write your annuity and is based on your age, amount of your gift, and percentage rates pre-set by The Stewardship Foundation. Single, joint and two-life rates are available. Payments are issued by The Stewardship Foundation which holds your investment until all obligations are fulfilled. Then, the remainder is turned over to the ministry you have designated. BENEFITS Your fixed payments are guaranteed for your lifetime. The amount you receive is established when you write your gift annuity and continues for the remainder of your life, regardless of changes in the economy or fluctuations in interest rates. If you itemize, you're entitled to a deduction on your current federal income tax return. Gift annuity payments are partially tax-free, and if you purchase your annuity with low yielding stocks, you may increase your income. (Annuities usually pay more than low yielding stocks.) You're also able to spread realized capital gains over your lifetime when you exchange appreciated assets for your gift annuity. Payments are made monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually, and may be mailed or directly deposited in your designated bank account. The older you are, the higher your payments. And, you gain a sense of satisfaction in knowing you're helping others! Giving is an act of faith, and a gift annuity is a way to give to your favorite charity while receiving a high rate of return during your lifetime.
